American technology giant Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) has been in the cross hairs this week, as its stock price is likely to trail a downtrend following the release of previous quarter earnings. However, the company has recently taken a proactive step to resolve an unexpected cloud outage, which has been reported by multiple users.

The multi-national technology firm took to Twitter to confirm that the cloud disruption had been caused by a network change which has now been rolled back. According to DownDetector, a platform where users can report issues about online applications that are having irregular issues, outages were reported for Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Store. Data gathered from DownDetector showed that the highest number of outage reports for Microsoft Teams was around 9 am today. The complaints came from a variety of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.

As many as 25% of reports on the platform stated that they were having problems with chat, while 20% said they were having issues with login. Other complaints included audio and video issues, as well as issues with the Teams app itself. In response to the reports, Microsoft has issued a statement which acknowledges the disruption and provides an update on the situation.

The statement reads: “We are aware of an issue affecting customers connecting to Teams. We have rolled back a network change that we believe was causing the disruption. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we are working to restore services as soon as possible. We will provide updates as they become available.”

Microsoft’s apology and swift response to the issue has been well-received by users, who have praised the company for their quick action. While the issue has been resolved for now, the company will need to ensure that the same issue does not occur again in the future. Microsoft Teams is an important part of the Microsoft 365 suite of services and any disruption to it can have a significant impact on users. The tech giant will have to keep a close eye on the performance of its services to ensure that any disruption to services is quickly identified and acted upon.
